Van Rensselaer Park

Since this pretty little green space was once the old Colonie burial grounds, I'll probably post much more about this park at albanychurchgrounds.wordpress.com fairly soon (I've slowly expanded that blog to not only cover the Church Grounds at the Rural Cemetery, but other historic and long-gone Albany burial grounds).

The Hydrangeas of Saint Agnes

Large headstones are flanked by beautiful hydrangea bushes on Founders Hill in Saint Agnes Cemetery.

Two of my pictures from a recent detour (I usually spend my free time researching in the adjacent Albany Rural Cemetery) through St. Agnes are currently part of a photo exhibit in the Concourse in the Empire State Plaza.  If you're in the area, do check out the exhibit!

Visiting Vale

I've featured photos from Albany Rural Cemetery both here and at a dedicated blog.  Last week, though, I took a break from exploring there and visited Schenectady's historic Vale Cemetery.  The angel above, with its broken wings and and missing arm, is one of the many beautiful monuments there.
