The former Mechanics & Farmers building, one of the loveliest structures on State Street, was designed in the 1870s by Russell Sturgis. A native of Baltimore, Sturgis was one of the founders of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and a noted author and editor on the subject of architecture.

Your buildings have such beautiful detail. Mostly glass towers here, but I need to try to search for our older buildings. Thanks for the inspiration.
