Found By Chance

This lovely stained glass window appears to have been salvaged from a church or chapel and mounted on an addition to the back of a house on South Lake Avenue.

While I've passed this house before, I had never noticed the window until a casual stroll this past weekend when I turned a corner at random and there it was.

Small Gems

It's a little too high on the wall to really catch your eye as you pass and I've never seen light - from inside or out - catch the stained glass to make it sparkle. But I like this small window on Madison Avenue near Dove and wish the setting showed it off better.

Stained Glass on Jay Street

I discovered this window - one of three - on the facade of a modest-looking brick church tucked away on a very quiet block of Jay Street just east of Swan Street.

Its frame is badly in need of a little care and it seems as if the painted details on the glass may have faded, but I do love old stained glass and, even though this example is rather worn, it still caught my eye.

House of The Rising Sun

About six weeks ago, while walking a friend to the Chinatown bus pickup on Central Avenue, I spotted this small stained glass window high in the turret of a brick building just a few doors from the Double Happiness bus' storefront office.

I tried several times to photograph the window - a stylized rising sun in shades from white to orange to black - but the light was always wrong. Until yesterday, a cold damp afternoon that wasn't really great for the St. Patrick's Day parade, but perfect for finally getting a picture of this window.
